An Effective, Safe Alternative
True friends care about the way you smell, which is why I`m writing today- I care about you! When working with these sorts of recipes, I work in grams and ounces because it is very difficult to quantify in volume ingredients like beeswax (some people use sheets, others use beads of varying sizes, etc.). Plus, some of the ingredients are used in such small amounts (less than 1/4 tsp.) that I wouldn`t know what measurements to use.
The recipe will be runny in hot weather and hard in cold weather so make sure your container can handle both extremes I cleaned out an empty deodorant container with a clicking mechanism and it worked great for summer but not at all once it was cooler.
Combine coconut oil, shea (or other) butter, and beeswax in a double boiler, or a glass bowl over a smaller saucepan with 1 inch of water in it. Combine in a quart-size glass mason jar with a lid instead and place this in a small saucepan of water until melted.
I put the concoction in a empty glass jar and plan to use my hands to put it on but its gonna get messy… I just need a better way to apply it so I think im going to invest a few dollars in buying empty deodorant sticks from amazon for $5 so its easy to apply it.
From my experience with this recipe, as a whole, it would be better to let this one cool a bit before pouring it in the container, because the baking soda/corn starch does sink to the bottom as it cools and hardens leaving the top portion not as effective.
This brand is a great option to purchase how to make deodorant spray try out a similar style of deodorant, however, this one can make you (or maybe your spouse) rashy due to the baking soda content so keep that in mind! After applying it, it has some grainy\" feel..should be the residue of baking soda. According to many using your standard store bought sick of deodorant raises some health concerns. I suggest that everyone buy the best organic virgin coconut oil you can afford and use it for cooking, too.
When I finally ran out, I got lazy again, and went to just using baking soda to pat underneath my armpits, and found that it really helped with sweating and smelling. I just use pure white vinegar with a few drops of tea tree oil in a little spritz bottle for Deodorant and it works great if I put it on after every shower and every morning. Seems to me, she said her favorite thing thus far has been the rock\" deodorant.
Anyway, I used baby powder (had cornstarch in it instead of talc) in place of the arrowroot (I didn`t have it), and some almond oil/mango butter to compensate for the lack of shea butter/coconut oil. When Emily asked one of us to write about homemade deodorant, I, having been a make-my-own-deodorant devotee for years, jumped at the assignment. For applicator, I used an empty gel deodorant container: very like a stick deodorant container, but with a little cover with 3 slots on top; plus a lid. If you like lavender, you could try 10 drops of lavender + 5 drops of a citrus oil.
